Once a chapter is loaded, could you start loading the next chapter in the background? Some examples would be like this: http://manga.redhawkscans.com/ or like this http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/59842. You could display how far preloaded the next page is by putting a progress bar on the "Next" Button (e.g. "Next (42%)", "Next (88%)", "****Next****")

**** where it's bolded once it's 100%, or maybe some other UI thing? idk... ****

Also, i was wondering if it's possible to use a double keytap as a keyboard shortcut? So like if you wanted to go down half a manga page you press the right key once, but if you tap it twice quickly in succession it'll jump to the top of the next page (?) not quite sure if this is possible, reasonable, or a good idea, but maybe could be interesting to test out? examples are on redhawkscans (^link above)

P.S. How's it going polo? We haven't heard much from you recently!

Hey !
Sorry for having be out since quite a lot but I was working a lot recently (not on AMR unfortunately) and i spent my free time reading manga i didn't read yet :) so i didn't spent time on AMR... I think i will restart working really on it in september (i will be on holidays soon...)

About your suggestions :
Preloading next chapter could be a great idea... but it seems difficult to implement because AMR uses the real sites pages to work and if I fetch next chapter in current page, the fetched pages will be lost when navigate to the real next chapter...
I think the 'twice next key' thing is quite difficult to use... i could try to implement it so you can test it... but i won't use it myself :)

haha, it's a lot less difficult than it seems, and it's a way to do handle the page if someone wants to zoom in on the two-page images.

ah, about the prefetching, here's an example extension:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... ingaocdmdf
use a mixture of this and changing the next links to include a prefetching mark? I have no idea how this extension works, and i didn't take the time to look at the code, so no clue at all...

but if that isn't possible, maybe using ajax (I know how painful that is >.>") like the webcomic reader... http://goo.gl/1x2XL

and if *that's* not possible... well idk, xD

i'm out of ideas after that... (on prefetching at least)

Hey !! I manage to load next chapter while reading previous one... so I will add it in next release... it is really fast reading now !! great idea.
I changed the next button with a little progress bar below which indicates the loading progression of the next chapter..
I didn't use your extension samples because i couldn't use that in AMR's context... and it happens to be ajax loading... (AMR is already full (really full)) of it so it's no big deal...

You can try it with this beta version : http://www.allmangasreader.com/versions ... .7.01b.crx
The progress bar doesn't work fine on mangastream but the prefetching feature seems to be OK for all websites
I will make it optional later...
Tell me how you find it...

I *love* it! The next button process bar looks *awesome*. Much better than my stupid numbers idea. ^.^

Super glad you could get this feature in, and i am bookmarking the: "http://www.allmangasreader.com/versions/" site hehe... (I love to see beta versions of AMR xD definitely looking forward to that as well)

Gotta admit, for a second i got confused, because in the extensions tab the AMR version number is still 1.3.6 so i wasn't sure if it updated, but it works *great*

On the other hand, loading the "loading..." gif and then loading the already pre-loaded image seems like just extra work, i think it might be faster to take out that gif altogether. Or if it must be better to preload that as well.

Actually, in general, I kinda hate that gif, could you use something a bit more advanced looking and a bit smaller in size (screen size and file size)?

Like instead of loading a gif under each image that goes away once the image is fully loaded, could you instead load something exactly the same size as the image that's layered underneath the image (on the bottom of where the image would be)? so once the image is fully loaded, it covers the "loading..." and then once the image is completely loaded, you can get rid of it. This will stop the website from oddly re-size itself whenever a manga page is done loading and a large "loading..." gif disappears. (if this doesn't make sense, please comment so i can re-phrase)

Or if that's too much trouble, then just use a smaller gif and make it disappear as soon as the image starts loading, rather than once the image is done loading.

Yep, I think I will change the loading image... and try to hide it once the scan starts loading... but it will be difficult to use the size of the image before it's loaded (even if it is preloaded...)
