All Mangas Reader

That's AMR trying to load all scripts and manga lists, sometimes you need to shake it a bit (meaning, disable and re-enable) so it can kick in. In the video I made happened the same thing, and all I had to do was go to extension list and disable/enable AMR, then the icon will show 0.

We are trying to resolve that problem making that AMR don't have to download/store the manga list of all the sites (so when you search a manga, it will download a fresh list with the search term) but some sites (mangapirate) don't have this function implemented yet, so we have to deal with it (this site can take up 10 minutes to download the entire list).

I appreciate the importance of letting everything load, sure. But I'm not talking 'wait ten minutes and you'll get something', I'm talking 'do something else for hours on end, then come back to it and it's STILL not letting me so much as get an options screen.' Sorry to say, but this example is a bug, not a feature.

On the other hand, having just uninstalled everything it wouldn't be particularly difficult to go through the process again; maybe I left something undeleted.

Oh, one more thing that might be relevant: I use Iron instead of Chrome proper. Since it's basically just a privacy build with standard infoshare settings defaulted to 'off', I didn't think it was an issue- but perhaps it could be useful to know?

All right, now it's working and blank; I'm effectively at the point I thought I had been at on my last uninstall.

Now, is there any way possible to turn off updates, or at least make them optional? I can't help but think if that can be done, all my troubles would just waft away. I could make a point of storing my export file before attempting an update, and if it crashes no loss at all.

Yeah, It's definitely a problem with Iron. I know Polo uses it, so he builds with it in mind, but recently I believe he switched back to chrome (you'd have to ask him why). So it's most likely an issue with Iron.

But, yes, make an export of your file, and clear all your AMR data. If it happens again, you'll have to re-import, but for now just try to use it as you can, and mention it again when the issue comes back

...No, that's part of the problem, this whole situation ensures that I couldn't just export my information. The info was utterly unavailable, and I had to revert to a Notepad backup I made in April. Bit outdated, that.

And as the other gent who brought this up doesn't seem to be an Iron user, I have to say I don't believe that to be the problem at hand.

Ok, I made a new account, installed Iron, installed AMR, imported my list, waited, closed Iron, opened Iron, read some random chapter, closed Iron, opened Iron, forced a mirrors update (going to chrome-extension://nhjloagockgobfpopemejpgjjechcpfd/background.html , pressing F12, clicking on Console, writing refreshWebsites() + *Enter*) and is still working.

Could you post your list, since is from april (some sites have changed their domains/readers) so we can check if some links are bad or if the combination makes AMR to don't work in Iron. Also you tried to purge your old data, Iron(windows) store it in %localappdata%\Chromium\User Data\Default and reinstall Iron?

@MisterJackson @ArMzi, you two still have issues?

I thought @MisterJackson and @ArMzi were able to get their AMRs working after thoroughly reading the FAQ?

Was I mistaken? Do they still have issues? When was the last time they posted?

I haven't seen them update, either to affirm or deny their situation- which is why I thought their last statements on the matter of not getting it fixed were still in effect. If I'm wrong on that, I'll most humbly apologize.

As for the info I'm using from April, it's honestly working just fine- aside from mangas that aren't there anymore, and everything massively behind on updates, all the tweaking that has to be done on my end, you know. Nothing that's causing any trouble to the continued functioning of AMR itself, just a pile of mangas I have to sort through and organize to how they should be. AGAIN. (And the mangas I added within the past half-year; I can only hope I'll be able to remember which ones they are now- the trouble of having such a fine and useful program to remember it for you.)

In regards to all the Appdata I had in Chromium, it's currently sitting pretty in my Recycle Bin; I made a point of not deleting it. If there's some way I can use the appdata scripts and suchlike to restore my information, I'd love to know- but the main point was to keep whatever dev-bug that was interfering with AMR's functioning out of the way, right?

Still, if you know any way I can have my scripts and leave the bug, I'd be a very happy guy. (I'd be able to make an accurate November set of export info! )

If you still have the default folder, then there is a way to recover your information, as explained in the FAQ's you will have to search and copy two files, then replace what you actually have (after doing a backup of the list, of course), all of this while you have Iron well closed. If you find it too much hassle, just zip the Local Storage folder, I could check it, repair it (if necessary) and give you your fresh list again.
