ok, seems like google decided to broke our support on mac users and I don't have one at hand so I will ask for a test:
1. Open your extension tab, and select Developer mode.
2. Look for Inspect view of AMR, specifically background.html, click it
3. In the new window that appear go to the Console and write refreshWebsites() and hit enter.
4. Go to the Network tab and check if the file websites.json is downloaded.

Please copy-n-paste the console output and provide information about the websites.json (just click it and copy the Headers and the Response tab).

Here you can find the previous versions of chrome, just download the last version that works for you http://mac.oldapps.com/google_chrome.php

Looks like the websites.json is not downloaded.

Just tested an older version of chrome where AMR works, and looks like it is broken too. No Supported websites.

Ok, what I see it's that Chrome do the petition but for some motive it sit idly waiting for the response. The only idea I have is that you try to use some local proxy to get around this (Polipo, Privoxy, "Google is your friend for the etc"); if this works try an external free/open proxy. Also I don't know if you forgot about it, but you tried to put the url in the address bar and see if the file is downloaded?

Last thing to do is to report a bug against chrome describing the problem that you are suffering (yeah, w/o mangas, that's it) or try the distribution list for users of Google Chrome or lastly the forum of chrome https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/chrome . I can't do this for obvious reasons (don't have a mac, don't have frustration about something that doesn't work).

I hope this can help to solve your problem.

PS.: If you post a bug, paste the link in the forum so the others mac users can suscribe to the bug and say that they are affected too.

Ok, here is how I got it to work.

Chrome on Windows 7 AMR works (Windows 7 is running virtualized on my Mac) WITHOUT a VPN.

I can't connect to community.allmangareaders.com WITHOUT using a VPN (virtual private network). I got the idea from when proxy was previously mentioned.

I can connect to community.allmangasreaders.com with a VPN. I'm currently travelling around the world so the VPN thinks I'm in the USA. I do not know the exact pin point of the problem, but a proxy/VPN should resolve the issue for mac users (weird how it works on windows 7 ON a Mac).

Basically, everything works after disabling and re-enabling AMR with a VPN on. For some reason in my country I can't connect to community.allmangasreaders.com without a VPN to tunnel my traffic through.

Hope this helps folks, I think a proxy will fix the issue (which I have no experience with).

If you are curious as to what VPN I use, I use strongVPN.

Try disabling/cleaning the cache. Seems like chrome failed downloading completely the script.
