Well.... I don't know what to do with Batoto...
I can find a counter measure to make AMR work with it again... but I don't want to kill their website or to begin a war with them like the one with mangastream last year...
I really like these independant guys...
What do you think I should do ???

maybe limit Batoto requests specifically; find a way to check the dates on the chapter updates with minimum pinging of their servers and maximize the amount the extension grabs info from their servers to once or twice a day? Updates may come in a bit late, but it's better than nothing...

Then it'd probably be a good idea to work with the Batoto admin guys (like shoot them an email or something) to make sure that they approve of it. If they do, then you should be fine. They may even suggest a good method of checking for new chapters that you may not yet have considered.

I don't know how easy/hard to do this could be, but how about AMR asking a single server for updates instead of constantly crawling? Something like what Mango (for Android) does:
All instances of AMR (that is, installed extensions) would ask a central server instead of going to each site to check one by one. This central server should have a bot or something that refreshes the manga list and checks for updates every couple hours, then reports the obtained info to the extensions. If site has an RSS feed for releases then the workload is even lower for both crawler and server.

Pro: Only a single instance checking for updates on each site, instead of hundreds hammering the servers at the same time.
Con: Update notifications wouldn't be instantaneous / would have a slight delay.

I think that is a good way to make it server-friendly for the reader hosts, but as I said, I have no idea how much of a chore it is to implement. Just suggesting.

If you're a member at Batoto you have the option of "following" manga that you read. The site lists the manga you tell it to follow and shows the day and time each manga was updated. Is there a way to work in conjunction with this function of Batoto.net? Can AMR be modified to check that list, if the user makes one, instead of checking each individual page for each individual manga?

If this was implemented maybe something could be worked out with Batoto so we could use our "import/export" function on AMR to add our AMR list to the Batoto "follow" list.

Just kinda brainstorming. Sorry if it comes off as stupid because I don't know very much about programming/scripting. I'm not even sure if this idea would decrease the amount of traffic on Batoto's servers or not. No idea if this would be more server friendly or not.

also, the scanslation groups make money from batoto and it's ads shown on each page. They say so here . AMR blocks the ads even with the "remove ads" option deselected. I'm sure it'd help earn some acceptance from the Batoto admins/moderators if the ads actually loaded per page as they would if you read the manga normally without AMR.

Sorry if I sound like i'm jus spouting off requests and orders. I'm just trying to keep everyone happy. I figure by keeping AMR users using Batoto we're getting the scanslation groups the income they need to keep doing quality scanslations. Quality scanslations makes any AMR user happy

Just noticed that batoto has an RSS feed for follows under construction...maybe that could be of some use?

Does AMR really hide the ads even if "remove ads" is deselected? because that should be placed in bug reports somewhere...

Well if my ideas really are of any help then you are very welcome. Glad to be of some sort of service. I'm still brainstorming so hopefully i can help again in the future. Too bad Batoto and AMR couldn't team up. I'd think that the increased traffic to Batoto from AMR would generate more income for Batoto itself and the scanslations groups, and have enough to send some love back to AMR and it's creator/support group. Kind of a you scratch my back I'll scratch yours situation. That'd solve a ton of problems no? Maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Anyway, yeah. No ads show up. I've disabled as well as restarted my browser just to be sure. No ads show up anywhere. And no, I've only tested it on 1.3.12. Sorry. How do i go about reporting that?

The admin of batoto said that AMR makes simultaneous requests at a time ,which has behavior kind of like a DDoS ( correct me if i'm wrong ) ,and AMR users put a lot of stress on their server , but he didn't mention the ad blocking issue ,may be he forgot that =.= . I do think that you should contact them ASAP to reach a consensus about this problem, because these guys at batoto derserve respect for bringing us the highest quality mangas available while supporting the scanlators , just like you made this wonderful AMR for free And I think that Someone516 is right, you can just limit the time between updates and make it uneditable, we readers would rather read a litter slower than have nothing . I don't know if updating from other sources , not from Batoto directly is doable or not , but i think this is a good idea .And thanks for your great work

Btw, the ad blocking issues occured not with just batoto but mangastream too, i whilelisted my Adblock extension and turned off the block ad selection in AMR options, but it didn't work. I don't know but it's likely this could be happened with some others site ,though .
