I suggest to open up the development of AMR so that more than one person can participate.
Right now the development is pretty much done by one person and seeing the bug report section I think that most of these bugs, which are pretty much just reports of bugged sites, can be fixed by anyone who has little knowledge of DOM.

So why not move the development to a more open development platform like github so anyone can fork it and patch it.

I am thinking about it too...

If anyone make a patch, can they commit it easily ??
What about testing ?? Can I "compile" the extension in a kind of beta channel so beta testers can validate it
I don't know about all tools that must be used to ensure AMR's quality...

http://help.github.com has a guide for nearly everything. But to answer a few of your questions.
You can start a organization for AMR and add collaborators. They can add patches without prior approval. Normally not exactly what you want. The better methods is to let others fork your project and do pull requests. If you as the owner of the project get a pull request you can review it and apply it with a few clicks. Of course there is also a guide for that (http://help.github.com/send-pull-requests/)

For downloads you "tag" a version with e.g. your version number and these are then considered "stable" versions. You can upload compiled version too. Everything else I'd consider testing or beta.

Git makes it very easy to make polo the 'gate keeper' and he is able to validate all code that is compiled, and make beta versions for testing, before rolling the final results into production code.

Git is very very good at handling the whole idea of reviewing code, testing it in 'non-stable' or 'beta' versions, and then giving one person the ability to control what ends up in the production code.
Git is also special, because unlike other tools it looks at changes as 'objects' instead of 'files' so multiple changes to different files, are treated as one big change. It's pretty amazing actually.

Yeah, it honestly sounds great. Hope Polo tries it at least.
