Quick suggestion, how about adding a "Recently Updated" section at the top of the background page in AMR. Basically when a new chapter comes out, the manga would go to the top of your manga list to let you know that it was updated. Reason for this is because I find it hard to go through a list of over 100 mangas just to find out what chapter came out. I know this would make it extremely easy on the user to find out what chapters came out that day so they don't have to manually go look through their list.

Also thanks for the hard work on the AMR, love it :).

But new it unread chapters already go to the top...
Not quite sure what you're asking for here...

All the "new" button does is filter out the list with new chapters and chapters already read in alphabetical order. What I'm saying is to make a new category that updates itself called "Updated" so that if a new chapter comes out it would automatically go to that section or at the top. Maybe you could even integrate it with the refresh chapters button in options.

Example, let's say, a new chapter for Code: Breaker and a couple of other chapters came out today, you would click on the filter "Updated" and it would look like this,

http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/8036/capturedfx.jpg

And the front page could look like this,

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/1200/capture3ac.jpg

If you were to read all the updated chapters, the category would hide itself until a new chapter was updated. The category's at the top would also smoothly scroll down to the section it would go to.

Those were just quick concepts I thought of that would make AMR even greater in general, opinions?

no it doesn't, the new button filters out all of the manga with any unread chapters. the reason you're getting other chapters in there is because you have other filters on besides "new." Try either turning them all off one by one or just hitting the little three bars in the "new" button. That should leave only that filter active. Then you can see all the manga with unread chapters.

However, by "updated" chapters, i think you mean "chapters released today," in which case you can just go to mangafox.com or mangareader.com and look on the front page for "recent additions" or something like that... The point of this extension is to keep track of where you are in each individual manga and see if there are any updates to your manga. We do not track individual chapters. (also, if you want a bit of help making your list a little easier to read, try going into AMR options and setting it to list mode)

If you want an explanation of how the filters work i can explain that, just ask anytime... I know it's kinda confusing, but it's definitely understandable...

Guess I could do that, was just trying to see if there could be an easier way to check up on chapters released today within AMR. Anyways, you summed up your post pretty well, thanks for the help/reply :).

Anytime! You're right, it would be cool to see which chapters were released today, but that would require a *lot* more memory, and the extension would be much slower...

The reason for this is that the extension doesn't store the dates the chapters were updated, it only fetches the chapter data for each manga you have in your list. This means that unless you tag all of the manga fetched today, with a special tag somehow, you can't make a "Recent" group.

AMR would not need to have date set for all chapters of all mangas, it would be enough to set the date of the last released chapter, and it would not need to get it from the mirror, could be the date where AMR updated the manga and got a new chapter.

But I would not use this, I don't think it would be that useful anyway ^^

But what of you have thirty manga (each with three or four different sites) updated in one day... That's a ton of excess memory

Not really. What uses a lot of memory in AMR is keeping a list of all mangas some mirrors have. All the titles of mirrors which can list all its titles are kept in memory, for faster searches, I suppose.

The CityManga mirror is the extreme example, as it is the mirror that can list all titles with most titles: it uses more than 2M to store it.

I follow more than a hundred mangas and even so my followed manga data is smaller than CityManga alone, with less than 1M.

Let's do some math. Even using a wasteful string format like "DD-MM-YYYY HH:MM:SS" for the dates, each date would use 19 bytes. A user with a hundred mangas would use only 1900 bytes of extra memory to store the dates of release of the last chapter of each manga the user follows (actually something more than this, but I don't think it would be more than 2K). This is almost nothing.

I'm only against this because I really don't think it's so useful. But it would be easy to implement and would not require much extra memory. If we are talking about memory, it would be better to stop implementing more mirrors that list all his titles - or not storing it, slowing the manga search function of AMR. And no one wants this, if memory is a real issue, there must be some other ways to solve it.

I agree with mexicano21...
It's easy to implement and does not require excess memory...
But i don't think it could be usefull...

Moreover I already added the latest read date for each manga for the new website (It allows you to have the latest chapters read stream on your profile...) so I can add the latest publish date too...

Here is a screenshot of my profile to help you wait for the new beta website...
